What is in the black sofas collection?

This is the colour hub for black across the whole sofa catalogue, holding 197 products. It spans fixed sofas, manual recliners and electric recliners, in genuine leather, leather, fabric and velvet, and runs from a single armchair through 2, 3 and 4 seaters and corner sofas up to three-piece 3+2+1 suites. Around twenty ranges are represented, so it is a breadth view rather than a narrow one.

Which materials are available in black?

Four. Genuine leather is confirmed in the product title on the Dalmore, Cidliano, Renato, Dandrea, Vantage and some Annecy listings. Leather without the word genuine covers Valerie, Verona Leather, Roma Leather, Valencia, Sienna, Cinema, Box Sofa and the Chesterfield range. Fabric covers the Verona Fabric High Back and Scatter lines. Velvet appears once, on a Sloane U shape corner sofa.

Which of these are genuine leather?

Only the ranges whose product titles say so: Dalmore, Cidliano, Renato, Dandrea, Vantage and several Annecy listings. The rest say Leather without the word genuine, and we do not upgrade that claim or downgrade it, because either would be inventing a specification. If the leather grade matters to your decision, call 02476 705 600 and we will check the record for the specific product.

Is there a black velvet sofa?

One appears in the collection, a Sloane U shape corner sofa, but it is currently out of stock rather than available to order. Velvet is a distinct material from fabric, with a raised pile that catches light differently and needs its own cleaning approach. If velvet is specifically what you want, ring 02476 705 600 and we will tell you whether it is expected back.

Which sizes and configurations are available?

Single armchairs, 2 seater, 3 seater and 4 seater sofas, corner sofas including one U shape, and a wide range of multi-piece sets. The set shorthand runs 2+1, 2+2, 3+1, 3+2 and 3+3 for two-piece combinations, and 2+1+1, 3+1+1 and 3+2+1 for three-piece suites. The first number is the largest sofa in the set and each further number is an additional sofa or chair.

Which sofa sets are available in black?

Sets are the strongest part of this collection. Valerie, Dalmore, Verona Leather, Sienna, Roma, Valencia and Chesterfield all offer multiple set combinations in black, so most of the common configurations are covered more than once across different ranges and price points. That means if one range is out of stock in the size you want, another often covers it.

What is the difference between a manual and an electric recliner?

A manual recliner uses a lever or side handle you operate by hand, so it can go anywhere in the room with no socket to plan around. An electric or power recliner moves at the press of a button and needs to sit within reach of a mains socket. Both appear in black here: Valencia and Roma on the manual side, Cinema, Annecy, Cidliano, Renato and Dandrea on the electric side.

What does “Antique” mean on the Chesterfield listings?

Several Chesterfield products here read “Leather Antique” in the title, and the product records do not define the term. In furniture it almost always describes an antiqued or distressed leather finish applied to a brand-new sofa, rather than meaning the furniture itself is old. These are new sofas, not antiques. Call 02476 705 600 if the finish is what draws you to the range and we will describe it.

Is black a practical colour for a family sofa?

Black hides liquid marks and general grubbiness better than any lighter shade, which is its main practical advantage. The trade-off is that it shows dust, lint, pet hair and pale crumbs far more visibly than a mid grey or beige does. In leather that is easy to wipe away; in fabric or velvet it means more frequent vacuuming to keep the sofa looking as it should.

Does black show dust and pet hair?

Yes, more than most colours. Pale pet hair against black upholstery is the most visible combination there is. Black leather and genuine leather are the easier answer here, because hair sits on the surface and lifts off with a wipe or a soft brush. Black fabric holds it in the weave, and black velvet holds it in the pile, so both need vacuuming more often.

How many products in this collection are out of stock?

We cannot give you a reliable figure, and would rather say that than estimate. The product data used for this page covered roughly the first hundred of the 197 listings, and no collection-wide availability count was included. Within the portion we could see, a little over one in five was out of stock. Use the availability filter on the collection for the current picture.

What size room do I need for a black sofa?

That depends entirely on what you choose, since this collection runs from a single armchair to a three-piece suite. Measure the wall run you intend to use, then your access route: doorway widths, hallway turns and stair landings. For a recliner, allow clearance behind for the backrest and in front for the footrest. Exact dimensions are on each individual product page.

How long does a black leather sofa last?

That depends on the range, the use it gets and the care it receives rather than on the colour. Leather responds well to age if it is kept out of direct sunlight and away from radiators, both of which dry the surface. On a reclining model, the mechanism is usually what limits the life of the piece, and it lasts longest when operated smoothly through its full travel.

How do I clean a black leather sofa?

Wipe with a clean, slightly damp cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners. Occasional specialist conditioning helps keep the surface supple. Keep the sofa out of the direct path of strong sunlight, which can fade black upholstery unevenly over time, and away from radiators. Blot spills rather than rubbing them, and take care that no product runs into a reclining mechanism.

How do I care for a black fabric or velvet sofa?

Vacuum fabric regularly with an upholstery attachment, working into the seams, because black shows dust and lint more than any other shade. Blot spills immediately rather than rubbing them in. Velvet needs a lighter approach again: brush gently in the direction of the pile and avoid soaking it, since water marks show readily on a raised pile.

Is finance available on black sofas?

Yes. You can spread the cost with PayPal Pay in 3, Klarna Pay in 3 or Pay in 30, both interest-free, Clearpay in 4 interest-free fortnightly payments, or DivideBuy for longer-term plans. All finance is subject to a credit check, and the options open to you are confirmed at checkout. Call 02476 705 600 if you would like help comparing the providers.

How long does delivery take?

Most in-stock black sofas are delivered within 7 to 10 working days, free of charge to England and Wales. Delivery is carried out by a two-person employed team rather than a third-party courier. They bring the sofa into your chosen ground-floor room where access allows and fit any feet or joining sections on site. Packaging is taken away on request.

Is assembly included, or do I need to build it myself?

There is no self-assembly to do. The two-person delivery team brings the sofa into the room you have chosen, on the ground floor, and fits any feet or joining sections before they leave. On a corner or a multi-piece set that includes joining or placing each section. Tell us in advance if access to the room is tight so the team can plan the route.

What happens if my sofa arrives damaged?

Tell the delivery team at the point of delivery wherever possible, and call us on 02476 705 600 the same day so there is a record from the outset. Photographs of the damage and of the packaging help. Damage in transit is ours to put right, and we will talk you through the options once we have seen what has happened.

Can I return a sofa if I change my mind?

Yes. Furniture Instore offers 14-day returns on this range, giving you a 14-day change of mind window from delivery. The sofa needs to be in the condition it arrived in, and we will explain the collection arrangements when you get in touch. Call 02476 705 600 or use the contact details on the site to start a return.

Does a black sofa come with a warranty?

Furniture Instore does not offer a separate frame or mechanism warranty on these ranges, and we would rather say so plainly than imply cover that does not exist. Your purchase is protected by your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which requires goods to be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If a fault appears, call 02476 705 600 for advice.
