What is a box arm sofa?

A box arm sofa has straight, squared-off arms rather than curved or rolled ones, giving it a clean, geometric, contemporary look. It's a design style — sometimes called a square-arm or track-arm sofa — found across a range of colours, materials and sizes.

What's the difference between a box arm and a rolled or scroll arm sofa?

A box arm is straight and squared for a sharp, modern outline, while a rolled or scroll arm curves outward for a softer, more traditional feel. Box arms also give a neater footprint, with no arms flaring beyond the seat, which helps when fitting the sofa against a wall.

What sizes do box arm sofas come in?

Box arm sofas are available in a range of sizes, typically from a compact 2 seater through to a 3 seater and matching sets, with some designs available as corner sofas. Check the individual product page for the exact dimensions before ordering.

What materials and colours are box arm sofas available in?

Box arm sofas are usually available in fabric, Leather Aire and genuine leather, in contemporary neutrals such as grey and cream. The exact material and colour varies by design, so check the individual product page.

Do box arm sofas recline?

Box arm refers to the shape of the arms, not the mechanism, so most box-arm designs are fixed rather than reclining. If a particular design includes a reclining option it will be shown on its product page — or browse our recliner ranges if a recliner is your priority.

Are box arm sofas good for small rooms?

Yes. The straight, squared arms give a neat, predictable footprint with nothing flaring beyond the seat, so a box arm sofa fits tidily against a wall or into an alcove. A 2 seater in this style is a practical choice for smaller rooms and apartments.

What rooms suit a box arm sofa?

Box arm sofas suit modern, minimalist, Scandinavian and industrial rooms, where the clean lines feel deliberate. They also work well in open-plan spaces. In a very traditional, heavily patterned room, a softer rolled-arm shape may sit more naturally.

How do I clean a box arm sofa?

Care depends on the material. Leather and Leather Aire can be wiped with a slightly damp cloth; fabric should be vacuumed regularly with spills blotted immediately rather than rubbed. The flat, squared arms are easy to wipe or vacuum along.

How long does a box arm sofa last?

A well-made sofa is a long-term piece of furniture. Every box arm sofa comes with a 5-year frame warranty as standard, and the frame is built for everyday use. Caring for the upholstery properly is the main thing that keeps it looking good for years.

Is finance available on box arm sofas?

Yes. We offer PayPal Pay in 3, Klarna Pay in 3 or Pay in 30 (both interest-free), Clearpay in 4 interest-free fortnightly payments, and DivideBuy for longer-term finance plans, subject to credit check.

How long does delivery take?

Most in-stock box arm sofas are delivered within 7–10 working days. Standard delivery is free of charge across the UK, carried out by a two-person team who bring the sofa into your chosen room and assemble any feet or sections on-site.

What happens if my sofa arrives damaged?

If your sofa arrives with any damage or a fault, contact our team on 02476 705 600 as soon as possible and we'll arrange to put it right. It helps to check the sofa on delivery and report any issue promptly so we can resolve it quickly.

Do I need to assemble the sofa myself?

No — there's no flat-pack building for you to do. Our two-person delivery team brings the sofa into your chosen room, access permitting, and fits any feet or connects any sections on-site, so it's ready to use.

Can I return a box arm sofa and what is the returns window?

Yes. We offer a 14-day change-of-mind returns policy on our box arm sofas, so you can order with confidence. If you'd like to return an item, get in touch within 14 days and our team will talk you through the process.
