Tan armchairs at Furniture InstoreNine tan single chairs across nine ranges: genuine leather on four, leather on three, suede on one. Four are electric recliners, one is manual and four are fixed. Eight in stock, one on pre-order.

What is in this collection

Nine tan single chairs, from nine different ranges: Dalmore, Valencia, Valerie, Oakland, Cidliano, Dandrea, Annecy, Rivello and Renato. Four are electric recliners, one is manual and four are fixed. Eight are in stock and one is pre-order. Narrow by mechanism or material first. For every single chair we stock, see our armchairs collection.

Three materials, not one

Worth being precise, because the difference is easy to miss in a thumbnail. Genuine Leather is stated on four titles: the Dalmore, Dandrea, Annecy and Rivello. Leather without a grade covers the Valencia, Valerie and Cidliano. The Oakland is suede. And the Renato names no material at all, so we leave it neutral. We would not call this collection leather armchairs, because five of nine would not support it. For confirmed hide, see our genuine leather sofas collection.

Suede is not leather and it is not fabric

The Oakland deserves its own paragraph rather than being folded into a leather comparison. Suede has a napped surface, which gives it a softer, matt look, and it behaves differently from both smooth leather and a woven fabric. It does not wipe clean: marks are dealt with dry, using a dedicated suede brush, and it does not like damp. Check the care label before using anything on it. For woven upholstery, see our fabric sofas collection.

Four recline, and all four are electric

The Cidliano, Dandrea, Annecy and Renato are electric, worked by a button, so each needs a mains socket within reach. The Valencia is the only manual recliner, worked by a side lever, so it can go anywhere in the room. The Dalmore, Valerie, Oakland and Rivello are fixed. Reclining here is comfort, not a health or posture claim. For powered seating across the store, see our recliner armchairs collection.

Choosing between electric, manual and fixed

An electric chair stops wherever you release the button, which suits daily use, but it needs a socket. A manual one costs less, needs no power and settles at set positions. A fixed chair has no mechanism: nothing to maintain, no clearance to plan for, and usually the shallowest footprint. None is better; they suit different rooms. Our sofa buying guide covers the choice.

One of these is a pre-order

The Rivello is not in stock now. It carries a stated lead time of fifteen days, longer than our usual delivery window, and it is worth knowing before you set your heart on it. The availability filter currently counts it among the in-stock items, which it should not: pre-order is a third state, not a synonym for available. For end-of-line pieces, see our outlet collection.

Measuring for an armchair

Measure the width of the spot with a little room either side, the depth the chair projects into the room, and the height if it sits in an alcove. For any of the five that recline, add the reclined depth and clearance behind, and remember a chair that fits closed can be unusable open. Our sofa measuring guide sets out the method.

Where a tan chair works in a room

A single chair does a job a sofa cannot: it fills a corner, sits beside a fireplace, marks out a reading spot next to a lamp, or defines a seating area in an open-plan room without blocking it. A fixed chair suits occasional seating; a recliner suits somewhere you will sit every evening. For matching seating, see our tan sofas collection.

Tan as a colour, honestly

A warm mid-tone sitting between black and cream, which makes it easier to place than either. It suits oak and walnut, charcoal and beige. Two honest caveats. Shades vary between ranges, from golden to a deeper brown, so compare the photographs rather than assuming nine chairs match. And tan is not inherently more practical: any leather scratches, fades or dries near a radiator. To compare a cooler neutral, see our grey sofas collection.

Care, by material

Leather and genuine leather want a gentle wipe with a soft cloth, prompt attention to spills, and no harsh sprays or bleach. Suede wants a dedicated brush and dry treatment. All three want keeping out of direct sunlight and away from radiators. We will not give a fixed conditioning schedule without a product-specific source. Full guidance is in our care guide.

Delivery

Delivery is free across England and Wales and usually takes 7–10 working days for items in stock; the pre-order item follows its own lead time. Our two-person team carries the chair into your chosen ground-floor room. If you have seen a faster premium service mentioned elsewhere on this page, ring us rather than assuming it applies. Full timescales are on our delivery information page.

Finance, returns and your rights

You can spread the cost with one of our named providers: PayPal Pay in 3, Klarna Pay in 3 or Pay in 30, Clearpay and DivideBuy. Each is interest-free and subject to credit check, with terms set by the provider at checkout. Furniture Instore is a credit broker, not a lender. Our 14-day change of mind returns cover unused items in original condition, and your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 sit alongside them. Our finance options page explains each provider.

Why buy your tan armchair from Furniture Instore

Nine chairs across nine ranges, three materials, three mechanisms and a spread of prices, with eight available today. What we add is precision about what each one is: genuine leather on the four titles that confirm it, leather on three, suede named as suede, and one title we will not describe until it is fixed. We tell you the Rivello is a pre-order rather than letting the filter imply otherwise, and there is no warranty advertised on this collection. Come and sit in them at our Coventry showroom. Customers rate us Trustpilot Excellent, 4.8★ from 4,800+ reviews. Call 02476 705 600.

Why you can trust this page: Furniture Instore is a Coventry-based upholstered-furniture specialist. We call four chairs genuine leather because their titles say so, and we do not extend that to the other five. We name the Oakland as suede rather than folding it into a leather comparison, and we leave one chair material-neutral because its title states nothing. We tell you the Rivello is a pre-order even though the filter counts it as in stock. And there is no warranty advertised on this collection, whatever wording elsewhere on the page says about a twelve-month term or a five-year care plan.

Frequently asked questions about tan armchairs

What is in this collection?
Nine tan single chairs from nine different ranges. Four are electric recliners, one is a manual recliner and four are fixed. Materials run across genuine leather, leather without a stated grade, and suede. Eight are in stock and one is a pre-order item.
Which of these are genuine leather?
Four: the Dalmore, the Dandrea, the Annecy and the Rivello, all of which state Genuine Leather in their titles. The Valencia, Valerie and Cidliano say Leather without naming a grade, so we call those leather. The Oakland is suede, and one title names no material at all.
Is one of these suede rather than leather?
Yes, the Oakland. Suede is a distinct material with its own feel and its own care needs, not a type of fabric and not a type of leather, so we name it separately. If you have seen this collection described as all leather elsewhere, that is wrong and we are correcting it.
How is suede different to look after?
It has a napped surface rather than a smooth one, so it does not wipe clean the way a leather chair does. Brush it gently with a dedicated suede brush to lift the nap, deal with marks dry rather than wet, and keep it away from damp. Check the care label first.
Which ones recline?
Four are electric: the Cidliano, Dandrea, Annecy and Renato. The Valencia is manual, worked by a side lever. The Dalmore, Valerie, Oakland and Rivello are fixed. Each electric chair needs a mains socket within reach; the manual and fixed ones need no power at all.
What does pre-order mean on the Rivello?
It means the chair is not in stock now and becomes available after a stated lead time, currently fifteen days. Pre-order is not the same as in stock, whatever the availability filter shows, and it is not the same as sold out. Check the lead time before ordering.
What size room do I need, and what should I measure?
Measure the width of the spot with a little room either side, the depth the chair projects into the room, and the height if it sits in an alcove or under a slope. For a recliner, add the reclined depth and clearance behind for the back to tilt.
Will it fit through my door?
An armchair usually clears a standard doorway more easily than a sofa, but it is still worth measuring the narrowest point on the route: the doorway, a hallway turn, a stair landing, or a lift if you are above ground level. Compare against the packaged dimensions on the product page.
How does tan work in a room?
It is a warm mid-tone that sits between black and cream, which makes it easier to place than either. It suits oak and walnut, charcoal and beige, and reads well against soft neutral walls. Shades vary between ranges, from golden through to a deeper brown, so compare the photographs.
How do I care for a leather armchair?
Wipe gently with a soft cloth, deal with spills promptly rather than letting them sit, and avoid harsh sprays, bleach and too much water. Keep the chair out of direct sunlight and away from radiators, both of which dry leather out over time. Follow the care label for the specific chair.
Are these suitable for pets?
We would not call any of them pet-proof. Leather wipes down more easily than fabric but claws still mark it, and suede is less forgiving again. A throw over the seat is a sensible precaution on a chair that gets daily use from an animal.
How much does delivery cost and how long does it take?
Delivery is free across England and Wales and usually takes 7 to 10 working days for items in stock. The pre-order item follows its own stated lead time instead. If you have seen a faster premium service mentioned elsewhere, ring us and we will tell you what is possible for your postcode.
What is your returns policy?
We offer a 14-day change of mind returns window, counted from delivery, on items returned unused and in their original condition. Contact us within those 14 days so a collection can be arranged. Your statutory rights sit alongside this and are not limited to that window.
Is there a warranty on these chairs?
There is no warranty advertised on this collection, so please do not assume one is in place, whatever other wording on the site may say about a twelve-month term or a five-year care plan. Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 always apply.
